Laurel, Mississippi VA Home Construction
This three-bedroom, two-bathroom custom-built home was built using architectural drawings designed and customized to the homeowner's specifications by our in-house draftsmen. One of the highlights the owners requested were 36" doors and doorways throughout the home to accommodate them as they age over the years in the house. The owners wanted to be prepared for the possibility of a future loss of mobility and to allow ease of accessibility for events and hardships that could occur with aging. The couple wanted to maintain their independence as long as possible by making every passage, doorway, and door capable of allowing access to a wheelchair. This home was constructed using a Veteran's Administration construction loan, which requires the home's builder to be registered and approved by the Veteran's Administration's property and contracting office. In addition to being a VA-approved builder, the Veteran Administration's Agency requires additional guidelines and code requirements during construction. However, with Ridgeway Homes being an experienced builder of VA homes, our team guided all parties smoothly throughout the construction and closeout process.
